The cost (or lack) of eating healthy!

I always hear people talking about how expensive it is to eat healthy - it isn't.  It is more difficult to plan meals than not planning meals which ends up causing you to go out and buy a meal that is marketed as healthy (maybe is, maybe isn't).

Try planning your meals for one week - you might spend two-three hours actually sitting down and analyzing the Calories in each meal and determining how much you need in a given day; however, it will allow you to spend less time preparing and return noticeable results.

I got off track..

of my diet that I had worked hard to create a routine and a habit.  It was hard getting started and easy to follow, but even easier to turn one cheat day, into two, into three, into my old habit of "I work out all the time so I do not need to watch what I eat".  Wrong, I need to watch what I eat so I can continue to get results I want.

Anyway, I was motivated to write this post because to help me get back on my diet, I made a ton of salads tonight!  I actually enjoy eating a big salad; used to hate it but now it is something that I crave.  I made a bunch so if I slip up on planning a meal, I can just grab a salad - I have snack, medium, and large sizes for any occasion.

Every single one of the salads are pretty big; the smaller ones are about the size of a side salad at a restaurant and the medium/large salads are as big as an entree you would order.

What is even cooler is that I made 17 salads for less than $.75 per salad!!

For the price you would pay for one meal at a restaurant or two meals at a fast food joint, I made 17 meals!  Also, my wife loves them as much as I do!

You do not need to eat salads all the time, the point is to plan your meals, save money, get results!

My salads have:

Lettuce
Carrots
Turkey Bacon
Tomato
Egg
Colby Jack Shredded Cheese
Parmesan Cheese
Cucumber

Leveling Up!

I am getting ready to go to bed but I wanted to drop a quick line as to what was on my mind today!

I used to play a lot of video games and I know the excitement of making progress in the game; especially a game where you can develop your character.  Developing your character is called leveling up - each level you gain (by playing more) your character gets stronger and usually gets some feature or power that you have been looking forward to.

These games that allow you to level up your character requires a lot of time to play and it made me wonder how much time I wasted leveling up in a video game when I could have been leveling up in real life!

Don't waste your time - exercise, learn something, spend time with family or friends!  You will be surprised at the achievements that you can earn in real life compared to the ones that you will eventually forget about in a video game!
